Secretary General

Rapudo Hawi has over 18 years experience as a research consultant, civic-tech and development practitioner, and security and governance specialist. Hawi worked with Kijiji Yeetu, Usalama Forum, County Governance Watch, Solidaarisuus/CECOME, PeaceNet, Chemchemi Ya Ukweli, UNDP, and UN-Habitat. His education credentials are MSc. Governance, Peace, and Security, BA Leadership and Management, and Dip. Community Development among others. Hawi is a fellow with Missions Publiques, Global Program 2023–2026 (#WetheInternet) and the
current Secretary-General of Internet Society Kenya Chapter.

During his tenure, established the ISOC Kenya office to serve as an innovation hub beyond 2023; raised membership from 1300 to 2270;
ranked ISOC Kenya 4th in Africa in performance, hosted 10 years ISOC-KE Anniversary, and 3 active grants funding available etc. He is the team leader, Kijiji Yeetu, the Community Network, and Civic Tech Organization which specialised on technology and internet governance, climate change and sustainability, security and Governance. He serve as the Technical advisor at County Governance Watch on matters of peace, security, and county governance: Hawi contributed significantly to Catalyst 2030, AccessNow, ICoCA, SaferWorld, PeaceNet, UN-Habitat, UNV, and UNDP, International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
